Good morning here from Dragway at The Bend the teams are setting up for a full three days of racing.
We have 11 drivers lined up for this weekend all with a chance to take home a gold Christmas tree. The new dragway at the bend surface creates a level playing field for all the drivers. The new track and facility will throw some challenges towards the crew chiefs, with no data on the track, the test sessions on Friday will be crucial for the teams to get a grip on the new surface leading into Saturday’s Raceday and Qualifying.
The weather forecast for tommorow’s test sessions reads 24 degrees with 35% humidity. Typically these conditions mean more horsepower for the naturally aspirated small blocks however with minimal data and track time at the bend for most teams, getting a full pass in might be a challenge.
Rob Dekert comes into the event/s as the man to beat. Setting low ET and high mph at the Sydney Nationals, other teams will definitely be out to get the Unique Racing GXP.
This weekend marks the return to racing for the Tremaniac racing team with both drivers Tyronne and Aaron back behind the wheel ready to compete with the rest of the field.
JTS racing will be on track for the double header, Looking to continue setting consistent 6 second passes out of his Dodge and turning on win lights.
Polito Fanily Racing is in the field looking to get further on top of their setup and chase better performance out their Ford Escort.
The DonRic Motorsport Avenger is in the field this weekend, currently sitting second in the points, the team comes into this weekend looking to get some wins and close the gap to championship leader Rob Dekert.
The Tingays smash repair team are ready to go, currently sitting 3rd in the points, a successful weekend for them could see them moving up in the points.
Darryl Stephen racing’s Ford Mustang will be looking to get some representative passes under their belt and continue to creep up on the setup of the Mustang.
The Oxley Motorsport team is back in the paddock after their debut at the postponed Australia Day Nationals, the team have raced at the bend in super stock this season and will be looking to embed himself in the tight pro stock field
The Parente motorsports team will be looking to continue their progress from testing, aiming to get consistency out of their Camaro.
The Mario Polito Motorsports team are looking to get their new engine package set up and going, the team have been testing in the lead up to this event as a means to get their new package sorted.
Pro Stock will be joined by Top Fuel, Top Doorslamer, Pro Stock Motorcycle aswell as the Aeroflow Sportsman western conference final.
