After debuting in Pro Stock at the rained out Australia Day Nationals, Ray Oxley and the team have committed to staying in Pro Stock for the foreseeable future. The team have gotten off to a flying start in the Pro ranks, running full passes and continually creeping up on he setup. The Oxley Motorsport team are happy with how things are progressing going into the Nitro Champs next weekend, hoping to build on their first two appearances.
One of the notable changes from Super Stock to Pro Stock is the Christmas tree, going from full tree to Christmas tree and it is often an overlooked part of the step up, but vitally important in securing wins on race day. Frequently being the last to leave as the faster car in Super Stock compared to the heads up Pro tree format in pro stock is a significant change for the Oxley Motorsport Cobalt however, Ray has stated that he prefers racing the heads up format of racing and is conscious that that more laps in the car will sharpen his reaction times and allow him to develop a race winning package.
Although, taking two wins from three at the Riverbend Nationals was no lousy weekend for the Oxley Motorsport team. The highlight of the weekend came for the team in the D final where Ray emerged victorious against Mario Polito in the battle of the Cobalt’s. Running a PB 7.09 against a 7.17, sending the team home happy and ready to take on the full field of Pro Stock cars at the Nitro Champs. The team have also made some setup changes to the car in order to extract more from their gorgeous Chevy Cobalt.
Pro Stock will also be featured alongside Top Fuel, Nitro Funny Car, Top Doorslammer, Pro Mod, The Aeroflow Sportsman Series.
