PRO STOCK AUSTRALIA SET TO WELCOME ITS SECOND EVER FEMALE DRIVER

The Australian Pro Stock ranks are set to welcome just their second ever female driver, with the world’s fastest female in an import drag car, Gina Bullians, preparing to make her debut in the Bomber Racing Camaro for the 2026 season.

For Bullians, the opportunity is one built on years of experience, persistence and a genuine passion for the sport. When the call came, the reaction was immediate.

“I was obviously thrilled. It’s an opportunity I’m very grateful for, and I can’t thank Mick enough for putting his faith and trust in me to pilot his car this season.”

That opportunity has been decades in the making. With more than 30 years across drifting, circuit racing and drag racing, Bullians has built a reputation as a versatile and proven competitor. Since relocating from New Zealand to Australia in 2011, her focus on drag racing has only intensified, quickly making her mark in high-powered import machinery.

Her rise through the ranks was immediate. A runner-up finish at her first event in a 3/4 chassis Mazda RX-7 was followed by a win within just a handful of meetings, setting the tone for what would become a highly successful campaign. Momentum continued to build, highlighted by securing the inaugural Grudge Kings Crown in 2016 and establishing herself as one of the quickest competitors in the scene.

A major step came in 2017 with the move to a full chassis, carbon-bodied Chevrolet Cobalt, and the gains were immediate. The car dropped into the 6.5-second zone at over 214mph, opening the door to the next phase of her career on the international stage. Competing across the United States and Puerto Rico, Bullians delivered some of her most memorable performances, including a personal best of 6.34 seconds and speeds exceeding 225mph. Along the way, she also earned the distinction of being the fastest female in the world in an import drag car.

Now, she turns her attention to Pro Stock, where the challenge shifts in both style and intensity. Despite her experience, Bullians is under no illusion about what lies ahead in one of the most competitive categories in Australian drag racing.

“I know how competitive the class is, and that races are often won or lost on reaction time alone. I put a lot of pressure on myself to do the job right every pass, but the team has been great and really supportive.”

The move into a naturally aspirated V8 Camaro marks a significant departure from the EFI combinations she has raced throughout her career, but it is one she is embracing. Learning a new car, a new combination and a new set of processes is all part of the appeal.

“I’ve driven a wide range of engine packages over the years, but this will be my first V8 combination. I’m really enjoying learning about the car and trying to absorb as much as I can.”

Her experience should serve her well. Time spent in a Pro Stock-style chassis, combined with a strong understanding of Racepak data, provides a solid base as she works towards becoming fully comfortable in the car. Even so, she knows there will be an adjustment period as she adapts to the differences, particularly when it comes to routine and muscle memory.

“This is a different car with its own processes, so there’s a bit of reprogramming to do. A lot of it comes down to muscle memory, and it will take a few passes to really get on top of it.”

The precision, the intensity and the close, side-by-side competition are what have always drawn her to the class, and now she will experience it from the driver’s seat.

“I love the close racing and the sound of the cars going down the track together. It’s always been one of the most exciting classes to watch, so to now be a part of it is pretty special.”

With Bomber Racing also continuing to establish itself within the category, the season ahead shapes as a shared journey. There is a clear understanding that growth will come with time, and Bulians is eager to contribute to that process while helping the team achieve its goals.

As the 2026 season approaches, she enters the Pro Stock ranks with a wealth of experience behind her and a fresh challenge in front of her, ready to take on one of the toughest and most competitive fields in the sport.
