The lack of a local track to test at has essentially deemed Group 1 racing useless for the Parente Motorsports team. However, with the construction of the Bend completed, the team is not going to miss out when Pro Stock arrives for the Riverbend Nationals in just 4 days time.
The Parente Motorsports team was back on track after 6 years last Saturday in preparation for the Riverbend Nationals. Unfortunately, an electrical issue was uncovered which only allowed the team minimal track time throughout the day. “Our first test session was a challenging day, which was to be expected after so long away. But as a team, we made great positive progress. Gerry did a great job behind the wheel, getting reacquainted with the Camaro”.
Having sorted the electrical issue, the team and car are ready to go when Pro Stock rolls through the door at the bend for the Riverbend Nationals. The event is a perfect opportunity for the team to gain more data on the car as well as get a handle on its tune up. “Our goal for the upcoming Riverbend Nationals is to continue to work towards building a consistent package. So much on the car has changed since we last raced, we know it will take time to be competitive in Pro Stock once again. But we aim to put on a good show for our local sponsors and supporters!”. To date, Aside from Jason Hedges who will not be in attendance with his GXP, the Parente Motorsports team are the only car to have any data on the new track.
As the team are based in Adelaide, the completion of the bend provides the team with every excuse to re-join the Pro Stock ranks. With the team planning on creeping up on the Camaro’s setup to create consistency on the track. “Having a world class facility on our doorstep will mean that we can run consistently on a great surface and develop a package capable of competing with the best in Pro Stock”. The team are looking forward to South Australia’s first taste of Pro Stock in 6 years at the Riverbend Nationals, however, are also looking towards the longer term. Planning to continue testing to creep up on the setup and potentially travel in the not-too-distant future.
The Parente Motorsports team as well as the rest of the Pro Stock field are putting their finishing touches on their cars as they prepare for Pro Stock’s assault on Shell V-Power Motorsport Park Dragway at The Bend
